Thomas Bewick School Pupils Achieve NHS Internship
Return to Latest NewsTwo of our pupils in Class 33 have been taking part in Project Choice since last year as part of a 12 week placement. Project Choice is a specialist college providing tailored educational support and a supported internship course for young adults aged 16-24 with learning difficulties.
As part of their placement, the pupils have been working at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead within their laundry department by washing, cleaning, drying, and delivering laundry within the hospital.
Having successfully completed their 12 week placement, they have both been given the opportunity to move onto stage 2 of their work experience journey, enabling a transition from Thomas Bewick School to a supported internship within the NHS, starting in September 2023.
Stewart Fraser, Class 33 Teacher, commented "This is great news for them, we are delighted they have both been offered onto the next stage and hopefully this is the start of their fantastic careers."
