At Thomas Bewick School, our intention is for all pupils and students to access a wide range of opportunities to help develop and improve their basic physical skills, through a variety of physical activities and sports.
In addition to developing fundamental movement skills, physical co-ordination, balance and manipulation skills, physical activity and participation in sports can also help children and young people to gain confidence and self-esteem. This will also support the development of important social skills such as turn taking, sharing, co-operating, communicating and interacting with others.
Our Physical Education (PE) curriculum is enhanced and enriched by the many opportunities pupils and students have to take part in daily physical activity, both indoors and outdoors. The activities we provide are a combination of physical play opportunities and integrated physical therapies, alongside regular planned sessions of physical education.
