Return to Key InformationThomas Bewick School is a specialist school within Prosper Learning Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is for children and young people between four and nineteen years with a diagnosis of autism. All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are in the assessment process. Pupils have a range of learning difficulties; some will require a high level of adult support to access the curriculum, whilst others achieve close to age-related expectations in some areas. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum across the Early Years Foundation Stage, Primary, Secondary and Post 16 phases. Pupils are supported by autism specific strategies and approaches to meet their individual needs and learning styles.
Thomas Bewick School operates over three different sites;
- Site One is Linhope Road, West Denton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Tyne and Wear, NE5 2LW where we have 18 classes for primary aged children
- Site Two is located next to Studio West School, West Denton Way, West Denton, NE5 2SZ where we have 18 classes for upper primary and secondary aged children
- Site Three is a provision based at Broadwood School in Denton Burn where we have 5 classes for our youngest learners
